To the Lake Howell school website. Our theme for the 2014-2015 school year is "ASAP: Analyze, Synthesize, Apply and Problem Solve", and we invite our community, students, parents, faculty and staff again this year to be an integral part of the success of Lake Howell.

The mission of Lake Howell High School is to help students meet their academic, social, emotional and vocational needs by using a flexible curriculum that emphasizes critical thinking and responsibility, challenging our students to develop their greatest potential to become responsible citizens in the work force and global community.

Parents: Please do not drop off students on Dike Road or any of the subdivision streets. 

For the safety of your student, please use the approved drop-off area in the parking lot by the Cafeteria.
U-Turns and stopping to drop off students on Dike Road are dangerous traffic violations and could result in a traffic citation.

New Attendance Policy: Effective immediately phone calls to the school will not be honored for the early release of students. Parents/guardians requesting the early release of their student from school prior to the end of the school day will need to do one of the following:

1) You will need to personally come to the administration office to sign out and pick up your student. Valid identification will be requested such as state ID or driver's license to confirm your identity before student will be released to you.

2) If you are unable to come in to sign out and pick up your student then a signed note from you indicating the date and time of the requested early release will need to be submitted to the front office. A contact number needs to be provided no later than the morning the day before the requested early release date to confirm your request. The contact number needs to be one that is currently on file and part of your student's school record.

Underclassmen ID Distribution begins Monday, September 15th.


The first shipment of underclassmen student IDS has arrived. You will pick them up during your lunch according to your last name:

Last Names A-F can pick up their IDs on Monday

Last Names G- L can pick up their IDs on Tuesday

Last Names M-R can pick up their IDs on Thursday

Last Names S-Z can pick up their IDs on Friday


If you haven't taken your underclassmen picture yet, your ID won't be ready for pickup. Retakes for underclassmen are Thursday, October 2nd during both lunches. If you have questions or need your Student ID sooner, please see Ms. Williams (1-208).

Senior Photos:

Seniors should have taken their Senior Picture over the summer at Leonard's Studio. If they did not, they will have ONE LAST CHANCE to take their photo for the Yearbook. Leonard's Studio will be on campus (Location TBA) on Monday, September 29th.  Appointments will begin at 7:20 AM and will be scheduled by Ms. Williams. Any student needing an appointment should see Ms. Williams ASAP. There is a $10 sit fee and can be paid with cash or check.

LHHS Students:
If you need to retake the Algebra I,  Biology, Geometry, or U.S. History EOC, please sign up with Ms. Bolling in the Testing Office in the Media Center.  The deadline to sign up is Sept. 10.  If you have questions about whether or not you should take a test, please ask your Guidance Counselor.
Here are some reasons to test:
Algebra I
The following students are eligible to participate in an Algebra 1 EOC Assessment administration:
·         Students who need to earn a passing score for graduation purposes
·         Students in a credit acceleration program (CAP) who wish to take the assessment to earn course credit

The following students are eligible to participate in a Biology 1 EOC Assessment administration:
·         Students who need to earn a passing score for a standard diploma with a scholar designation
·         Students who wish to retake the assessment to improve their course grade.
·         Students in a credit acceleration program (CAP) who wish to take the assessment to earn course credit

The following students are eligible to participate in a Geometry EOC Assessment administration:
·         Students who wish to retake the assessment to improve their course grade.
·         Students in a credit acceleration program (CAP) who wish to take the assessment to earn course credit
US History
The following students are eligible to participate in a US HISTORY EOC Assessment administration:
·         Students who need to earn a passing score for a standard diploma with a scholar designation
·         Students who wish to retake the assessment to improve their course grade.
·         Students in a credit acceleration program (CAP) who wish to take the assessment to earn course credit

Students who are feeling sick should report to the school clinic located in the registration area.

Students must have parental consent to leave campus. Parents or approved persons named on the Emergency Information section of Skyward or the Emergency Card may pick up students at the front office with valid identification when checking the student out due to injury or illness; a completed Excused Absentee Form must be turned into the front office upon the students return to school; the form is listed on the LHHS web site and available at the front desk.   Students who have driven to school may be checked out with parental consent however the parent or legal guardian must be able to be reached by telephone prior to the student being allowed to leave campus on their own.  Suspected abuse of this privilege may require documentation from a licensed physician as prescribed in F.S. 232.09 (4).


The Florida Standards Assessment (FSA) Portal is now available for districts, schools, students, parents and the general public to access information about the 2015 state assessments. Please click the link below to access the FSA Portal.
All students taking the following courses:

Students will have access to an electronic textbook. 
Those students who
 wish to have a print copy of their textbook must submit and print an online form:
This form must be given to the media center at the time the print copy of the textbook is distributed. 

Remember, student textbooks are available online. Get the code for your online textbook from your teachers!


New Online Process for Returning Student Registration through Skyward Family Access

Parents and guardians now have the option to complete the forms included in the “1st Day Packet” on-line through Family Access, or by filling out the paper forms and returning them to your child’s school. Please note that the on-line process will be open from August 4th to September 2nd. If you have already updated you child’s information through Family Access, please log back into the system to complete the on-line forms (Emergency Contact Card, School Security Form, and Release form for Field Trips).  (Family Access Overview)
Important: Due to the nature of the information accessible through Family Access, parents and guardians are strongly urged to keep usernames and passwords confidential. In the event the username is lost or compromised, please contact the school to have the username or password reset or changed.



Get ready for this year's Homecoming game!
"To prepare for our annual Homecoming Game and Dance, Lake Howell will be holding Spirit Week from September 22 to September 26.
Monday, September 22 - "Disney Day" - Dress as your favorite Disney Character.
Tuesday, September 23 - "Battle on the Seas Day" - Dress as a Sailor or a Pirate to support a team for PowderPuff.  
Seniors are the Sailors, and Juniors are the Pirates.
Wednesday, September 24 - "Tourist Day" - Dress like a Tourist.
Thursday, September 25 - NO SCHOOL
Friday, September 26 - "Lake Howell Spirit Day" Wear your Blue and Silver in preparation for our Homecoming Game where the Lake Howell Silver Hawks will "Sink the Wekiva Mustangs!"
**Dress Code will be in effect throughout Spirit Week.  Hats will be permitted.  NO WEAPONS!**
Contests will be held each Spirit Day during both lunches in the ROTC Courtyard!"

It has been scheduled for 9/26 against Wekiva!   
"Student Government is proud to sponsor Lake Howell's Annual Homecoming Dance, a night Under the Sea, on Saturday, September 27, in the Multipurpose Room from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Tickets will be on sale Monday, September 8.  You may purchase tickets during both lunches outside of Building 2.
September 8 - September 12.................$20
**During the week of September 8 - September 14, tickets will be sold to seniors only ​for $10**
September 15 - September 19...............$25

At the Door (LHHS Students ONLY)........$40
Tickets will not be sold on Wednesdays.  
If your guest does not attend Lake Howell High School, a Non-Student Participation Form must be completed prior to purchasing a ticket.  Non-Student Dance Participation Forms are available in Room 02-216 or in Discipline."
